Recently, Lil Wayne has been under much scrutiny for his lyric on Future's "Karate Chop" that goes "beat that pussy up like Emmett Till". The lyrics has undergone much criticism and now the New Orleans rapper has to hear it from Stevie Wonder. Wonder was giving an interview with the Associated Press and he decided to speak on the lyric. Wonder said "
You can't equate that to Emmett Till. You just cannot do that," he said. "I think you got to have someone around you that - even if they are the same age or older - is wiser to say, 'Yo, that's not happening. Don't do that.'"
We have to admit the lyric about the murdered teenage isn't really a classy move, and it's definitely distasteful.
Wonder however is a fan and friend of Lil Wayne, so we'll see how this goes over with the rapper. Wonder went on to say in the interview that Lil Wayne has to understand the Till family and their perspective on the lyric, and that next time he should think about something before he puts it out publicly in a song.
