Nassau Police arrested a woman who was talking on her cell phone while driving when they found 92lbs of pot when the pulled her over. Mizzie Artiz, 27 of Bellport, was operating a 1999 Hyundai in North Bellmore on Columbus Ave at around 6pm when the police spotted her, she also failed to use her safety belt. Before they pulled her over Artiz met up with a minivan, however the minivan fled the scene after two police cars passed them. Artiz also left the scene and drove through a stop sign and also failed to use her signal. After the police pulled her over they spotted two brown boxes that reeked of marijuana. The police used dogs to confirm Artiz was transporting marijuana, they also found boxes in her trunk.
Artiz was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and additionally was charged with a number of traffic violations. She is due back in court on Wednesday.
